The Reset
A Six-Week Group Experience for Men in Midlife
For the man who knows something needs to change...and is ready to do something about it
There's a particular kind of stuck that doesn't make sense on paper. Your life looks fine. Good, even. The bills are paid. The responsibilities are met. Nobody would look at your life from the outside and see a problem. But inside, it's something else entirely.
A low hum of dissatisfaction you can't quite locate. A restlessness that surfaces at odd moments - on the commute, at three in the morning, in the middle of conversations you're only half present for. A sense that somewhere along the way you lost the thread back to yourself, and you're not entirely sure when it happened or where to start looking.
You're not in crisis. But you're not OK either. And the gap between those two - too uncomfortable to ignore, too vague to explain - is where a lot of men in midlife quietly live.
If that resonates, you're in the right place.
What's Actually Going On
There's a name for what you're experiencing. I call it the drift.
It doesn't announce itself. It doesn't arrive with a dramatic breakdown or a single defining moment. It creeps in gradually, over years of building, providing, achieving and showing up, until one day you look up and realise you've drifted a long way from the man you thought you'd be by now.
The drift isn't a character flaw. It isn't weakness or ingratitude or a midlife cliché. It's what happens when a man spends long enough living for his roles and his responsibilities that he loses contact with himself in the process. And it doesn't fix itself. Left alone, it deepens. It leaks into your relationships, your energy, your sense of what's possible. It turns into numbness, or irritability, or a creeping suspicion that the best of life might already be behind you. I can assure you it's not.
But doing nothing is not a strategy.
What Men Really Want When They Reach This Point
At this point, men want to feel like themselves again. They want clarity about what actually matters to them now, not what mattered ten years ago. About what needs to change and what's worth keeping. About who they are when nobody needs anything from them.
They want to make decisions about work, about relationships, about the direction of the next chapter, and with intention rather than inertia. They want to stop carrying things alone. The weight of unspoken grief, quiet regret, conversations that have never happened. The exhaustion of keeping the mask on every single day with nobody to be honest with.
And, though most men wouldn't put it in these words, they want to be in a room with other men who get it. Who are in the same place. Who won't judge, fix or minimise what they're going through.
That is not weakness. It is entirely reasonable for a man at this stage of life. The Reset is built around exactly that.
What The Reset Is
The Reset is a six-week group experience for men in midlife. Six sessions, sixty minutes each, and a small group of between six and eight men - enough for genuine diversity of perspective, small enough that every man is seen and heard every week.
It is not a course. There are no video modules to watch or workbooks to complete in your own time. It is a live, structured, human experience that happens in real time with real men. Also, it is not therapy. I'm not a therapist and I won't pretend to be. What I am is a man who has navigated this terrain himself; a man who has asked these questions, carried this weight, and found a way through. I'm your guide through midlife. Not because I have all the answers, but because I know the territory very well.
Each session follows a clear structure - a focused teaching, an honest group discussion, and a weekly commitment that keeps the work alive between sessions. The topics move deliberately through the things that matter most.
Week 1 we get honest about where things actually are. Week 2 we look at identity; who you've become and what you've set aside. Week 3 we address the weight most men carry silently for years. Week 4 we turn forward: values, vision, what the next chapter actually looks like. Week 5 we get practical about the relationships you're living inside. And week 6 you leave with a clear personal direction and a commitment to the man you're becoming.
Six weeks. Six honest hours. One real shift in direction.
What Changes
Not everything. And not overnight. But men who do this kind of work consistently report that they get clear. The fog of vague dissatisfaction becomes specific and nameable, which means it becomes addressable.
They make decisions. Things that have been stuck, like careers, relationships or directions, begin to move. Not because someone told them what to do, but because clarity creates momentum. They stop carrying things alone. The conversations they've been avoiding get started. The weight they've been lugging quietly gets acknowledged and, gradually, set down.
They reconnect. With themselves, with the people closest to them, and with a sense of possibility about the next chapter that the drift had quietly buried. And they find, often to their surprise, that a room full of honest men is one of the most valuable things they've experienced in years.
What The Reset Is Not
This is not a magic solution. If you join The Reset expecting six weeks to resolve everything that's complicated in your life, I'd rather you didn't join. Because that's not what this is and I won't pretend otherwise. It is not a place to come and listen. You will be expected to show up, engage honestly, and do something with what comes up. Passive participation produces passive results.
It is not for men in acute mental health crisis. If you are struggling significantly with your mental health right now, please speak to your GP or a qualified therapist before considering this program. There is no shame in that; quite the opposite in fact. It is also not a long-term commitment. After six weeks, there are options for continuing the work if you want them. But the program itself is contained, focused and finite.
Who This is For
You're in the right place if any of these sound familiar:
- You've been vaguely dissatisfied for longer than you can remember and you're done pretending that's just how it is
- You're facing a transition (a career change, a relationship shift, the kids leaving, a significant birthday...) and you want to navigate it consciously rather than reactively
- You're tired of carrying things alone and you're ready, cautiously, perhaps, to be honest with other men about where you actually are
- You know, somewhere beneath the noise of daily life, that the current version of your life is not the final version. And you haven't given up on finding a better one
Who This is Not For
- Men who aren't ready to be honest. The Reset works in direct proportion to the honesty you bring to it. If you're not ready for that yet, this isn't the right moment
- Men looking for quick fixes or life hacks. This is real work. It moves at the pace of genuine change, which is never as fast as we'd like
Why Me
I'm Paul, founder of Middle Man and your guide through midlife.
I'm not a therapist or a qualified coach. What I am is a man who hit midlife, felt the wheels coming loose, and couldn't find anything that spoke honestly to where I was. So I built something.
Middle Man began as a podcast and has grown into a community built around one belief; that midlife doesn't have to mean drift, compromise or quiet desperation. It can be the beginning of something better. But getting there requires honesty, the right questions, and people around you who understand.
The Reset is the program I wish had existed when I needed it most. Everything in it comes from lived experience; the conversations I've had, the mistakes I've made, and what actually helped. I'm not here to fix you. Because you don't need fixing. I'm here to guide you through the territory because I know it well, and because nobody should have to navigate it alone.
The Details

- A short weekly reflection prompt to keep the work alive between sessions
- Full recordings of every session available to all participants.
- Investment: £295
A note on price
I've thought carefully about the charge for The Reset. It is high enough that the men who join are genuinely committed, as this only works if everyone shows up. But it's also honest enough that it should not price out the men it's designed for. What I'd ask you to consider is not whether the price is comfortable, but whether the cost of doing nothing is higher. For most men at this point in their lives, it is.
